Job fairs being held in every district to help unemployed: Santosh Lad

District in-Charge Minister Santosh Lad has said that the State government has been organizing job fairs in every district to create employment opportunities for the unemployed and aspiring youth.

He was inaugurating a district-level job fair at Karnatak College in Dharwad on Tuesday.

The job fair was organised jointly by the district administration, zilla panchayat, District Skill Mission, Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood and the Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Promotion Society.

The Minister said that the job fair in the district has received an encouraging response from the unemployed and interested youth.

He noted that such district-level job fairs are being organised once every three months and feedback from participating candidates is being collected to further improve employment initiatives.

Necessary instructions have been given to the Skill Development Department to take appropriate follow-up action, he added.

Stating that the State government remains committed to creating employment opportunities for youth, Mr. Lad said that more than 40,000 jobs have already been provided through various initiatives.

“The primary objective of job fairs,” he said, “is to enable direct interaction between employers and job seekers.”

He also said that the State government will fill 56,000 vacant posts, as announced in the State budget, as part of continuous efforts to reduce unemployment.

He urged youth to make effective use of such opportunities.

Chairman of Karnataka Bal Vikas Academy Sangamesh Appasi Babalashwar, president of District Level Guarantee Scheme Implementation Authority S.R. Patil, Deputy Commissioner Snehal R., Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Bhuvanesh Patil and other officials were present.
