In the previous hearing on February 20, 2026, the Supreme Court Bench ordered Calcutta High Court to depute current and former judicial officers to help with the SIR process in the State saying the persistent “trust deficit” between the Mamata Banerjee government and the Election Commission (EC) has led to a “stalemate”, with time running out.

About 250 judicial officers engaged in the last leg of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in West Bengal after the Supreme Court order started their work on Monday (February 23, 2026). The final electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on February 28.
