BC organisations seek action in infant’s death in Nagarkurnool

Several BC organisations have lodged a complaint with Director-General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy seeking enquiry and action against people responsible for the death of an infant, allegedly due to an assault at the Mallanna Jatara in Kummera village of Nagarkurnool district.

The BC organisations alleged that the parents of the infant, who belong to the washermen community, were insulted using caste when they visited the temple for darshan. The infant suffered injuries during an altercation with the organisers and died in a hospital where she was taken two days after the incident.

The infant’s family lodged a complaint with police alleging that some organisers abused them using caste slurs, preventing them from entering the temple. According to Nagarkurnool police, the infant was taken to the hospital two days after the alleged incident and later died. Initially, there was no complaint on the assault on the infant.

Police said they are investigating. Meanwhile, several BC organisations staged protests at the police station and later submitted a memorandum to the DGP in Hyderabad seeking an investigation. Former Minister of BRS, Srinivas Goud, also led a delegation to the DGP seeking action.
