KARTHIKEYAN More than 50 members of the Kattu Nayakan community, residing in Valisettipatti near Vadamadurai under the Vedasandur Taluk, arrived at the Dindigul district Collectorate with their children dressed in school uniforms and engaged in a road blockade protest demanding issuance of caste certificates. They stated that they had been continuously protesting for several years, requesting Scheduled Tribe (ST) caste certificates for their community. They noted that despite filing complaints regarding this demand with various officials—including the Vedasandur Tehsildar, the Palani Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), and the Dindigul District Collector—no action has been taken so far. The protesters emphasised that their children were unable to pursue higher education due to the lack of these certificates. Only with the caste certificates they would be able to avail admissions and other benefits from the government. Following negotiations with revenue officials and the police, they withdrew the road blockade.
