Residents of Amaithicholai hill village during the weekly grievance meeting here on Monday demanded basic amenities and threatened to boycott the 2026 Assembly elections .

Despite living in the area for the past 60 years, the residents claimed that no action has been taken despite numerous petitions submitted to the District Collector’s office, Tehsildar’s office, and other departments regarding basic amenities—including drinking water and road facilities—as well as the issuance of land pattas for their houses.

As Amaithicholai is a hill village located under the Panrimalai Panchayat in Dindigul district and more than 200 people from 70 families reside in this village, they have been living without even basic facilities.

Stating that they will boycott the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections if immediate action was not taken to provide land pattas, villagers threatened that they would surrender their essential documents, including Aadhaar cards, Voter IDs, and ration cards, to the government.
