IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh stated in the Legislative Assembly on Monday that the government planned to release a mega job calendar by Ugadi, having successfully done a recruitment of 16,000 teachers last year. During his reply to a question by MLAs Koona Ravi Kumar on various issues related to Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), Mr. Lokesh said work was under way regarding vertical and horizontal reservation to teachers. A new Presidential Order on renotification of zones necessitated reconciliation, for which steps were taken. The proposed job calendar would include teacher posts, he added. Regarding the KGBVs, Mr. Lokesh said the salaries being given to teaching staff were relatively higher than in many States and a decision on the growing demand to increase the salaries could be taken only in consultation with the Centre as the KGBVs were a Centrally Sponsored Scheme. He noted that the results of KGBVs have significantly improved in the last two years and there has been an intense competition among female students to secure admissions (into the KGBVs). The State government has taken several issues concerning the KGBVs and teachers in general to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s notice and they would be sorted out at the earliest.
