The State government has appointed Special District Revenue Officer (Records Verification) in Tiruppur district in a newly-created post to redress grievances pertaining to Inam land-holdings.

The new post was created by the Chief Minister’s Special Cell in Tiruppur and Tiruchi taking cognisance of the prolonged difficulties faced by Inam land-holders in these districts and surrounding regions due to the zero-value registration by the Registration Department despite the grant of ‘ryotwari’ patta under the Tamil Nadu Inam Estates (Abolition and Conversion into Ryotwari) Act, 1963.

The affected farmers had submitted petitions to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin during his visits. In deference to their appeals, the Chief Minister had ordered creation of the new post in the two districts, an official press release said.

A. Mayil and R. Ramesh were appointed to the newly-created post in Tiruppur and Tiruchi districts respectively. The officials will hold prompt inquiries to resolve the grievances of the affected farmers, the press release said.
