Madurai District Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar released the final electoral roll in the presence of recognised political parties’ representatives here on Monday. As per the final publication, in Madurai District there are 12,08,651 male voters, 12,58,051 female voters, and 252 third-gender voters, bringing the total number to 24,66,954 voters. Compared to the draft electoral roll published on December 19, 2025, there is an increase of 1,06,797 voters, it was stated. A total of 3,80,474 names were removed due to relocation (2,30,068), death (94,432), and duplicate entries (13,336). In Melur Assembly Constituency, there are 2,27,789 voters – 1,13,091 male voters, 1,14,687 female voters, 11 third gender voters. In Madurai East Assembly Constituency there are 3,30,993 voters – 1,61,361 male voters, 1,69,579 female voters, 53 third gender voters. Sholavandan Assembly Constituency (Reserved), there are 2,12,502 voters – 1,04,246 male voters, 1,08,243 female voters, 13 third gender voters. In Madurai North Assembly Constituency, there are 2,18,719 voters – 1,06,263 male voters, 1,12,410 female voters, 46 third gender voters. Madurai South Assembly Constituency has 1,77,605 voters – 87,179 male voters, 90,378 female voters, 48 third gender voters. In Madurai Central Assembly Constituency there are 1,96,856 voters – 95,632 male voters, 1,01,198 female voters, 26 third gender voters. Madurai West Assembly Constituency has 2,71,341 voters – 1,33,116 male voters, 1,38,214 female voters, 11 third gender voters. In Thirupparankundram Assembly Constituency, there are 3,07,783 voters – 1,50,596 male voters, 1,57,157 female voters, 30 third-gender voters. Thirumangalam Assembly Constituency has 2,59,225 voters – 1,25,756 male voters, 1,33,461 female voters, eight third gender voters and in Usilamapatti Assembly Constituency, there are 2,64,141 voters – 1,31,411 male voters, 1,32,725 female voters, six third gender voters. Releasing the final voters’ list, Mr. Praveen Kumar, said that five specific assembly constituencies in Madurai would be under intense surveillance due to reasons like high election spending, bribery and gift distribution. Due to previous election seizures and spending patterns, five constituencies have been declared Expenditure Sensitive Assemblies – Madurai East, Madurai North, Madurai South, Thirupparankundram and Tirumangalam. Additionally, 368 polling stations have been identified as vulnerable or sensitive and based on that 12 specific stations are under special surveillance based on past voting patterns, he noted. Mr. Praveen Kumar highlighted a pilot project to set up a polling station inside an apartment complex with close to 814 voters in Madurai West Constituency to ensure residents did not have to travel more than two km to vote. In addition, he stated that each constituency would feature one Model Polling Station managed entirely by female officers. The centres would include modern amenities and play areas for children accompanying voters.
