A 23-year-old college student died, and her friend, who was driving the two-wheeler, suffered serious head injuries following an accident in the industrial area on the outskirts of Hassan city, in Karnataka, on February 22 evening.

Priya, studying MCA in a private college, and her friend Swathi were heading to meet their friends when they met with an accident. According to sources, Swathi was driving the bike – a Royal Enfield. She lost control of the vehicle after hitting a road hump. The girls were not wearing helmets.

Local people rushed them to a private hospital where Priya succumbed to injuries. Swathi has been referred to a hospital in Bengaluru.

Priya, a resident of Satyavangala Extension in Hassan, is survived by her father, who is with the Border Security Force, her mother, and a brother.
