A Russian drone attack on the south-eastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia killed one man and wounded another early Monday (February 23, 2026), the regional military chief said.

Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional administration, said the strike hit industrial facilities.

A 33-year-old man was killed and a 45-year-old man was injured, he said.

Further north, Kharkiv’s Kholodnogirsky district had come under missile fire, but there were no immediate reports of casualties, Mayor Igor Terekhov said.

Emergency services were assessing the damage, he added.

Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv, major industrial hubs near the front line, have been frequent targets as Moscow steps up pressure on Ukraine ahead of the four-year anniversary of its full-scale invasion on Tuesday (February 24, 2026).

The attacks followed a barrage of Russian missiles and drones that struck energy infrastructure, railways and residential areas across Ukraine on Sunday (February 22, 2026), with Kyiv among the hardest hit.

One man was killed and more than a dozen people were wounded in and around the capital in that attack.
