The Thiruvananthapuram City Police have recorded a second arrest in connection with the recent seizure of 325.267 kg of ganja at Pappanamcode. The Nemom police have identified the accused as Varun V.G., 29, of Melamcode. The contraband was seized on February 16 after the police intercepted a car that was used for its transportation from Tamil Nadu to Kerala. According to the police, Varun had accompanied the prime accused, Afsal, a native of Karakulam who was arrested earlier, to facilitate the smuggling of ganja from Nagercoil. He was purportedly travelling in a separate vehicle as part of the operation. Varun was taken into custody from Melamcode late Saturday. The police stated that further investigation is under way to identify others involved in the inter-State drug trafficking network.
