Chittoor police conducted an extensive district-wide cordon and search operation from Saturday night till early Sunday, as part of intensified measures to prevent crime, curb illegal activities, and enhance public safety.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Dudi said that police officers and personnel, working in close coordination, conducted systematic checks across multiple localities. The drive focused on verifying suspicious individuals, inspecting vehicles, monitoring the movement of known offenders, and preventing the transportation of illegal substances.

The SP said that during the operation, police seized 10 two-wheelers and 10 litres of illicitly-brewed arrack. The seized items were taken into custody, and further legal proceedings have been initiated.

Mr. Tushar Dudi said that the primary objective of the operation was preventive policing, aimed at deterring criminal activity in advance and strengthening the sense of security among the public through visible policing in vulnerable and residential areas.

The SP urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious persons or vehicles to the nearest police station. It was assured that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.

Meanwhile, the police launched helmet and road safety awareness programmes across the district, urging two-wheeler riders to wear helmets compulsorily and adhere to traffic regulations.
