Moorthy Lack of public toilets in city Madurai attracts a large number of devotees and tourists throughout the year and also functions as a major commercial hub, particularly in the trading areas around Meenakshi Amman Temple. Despite this, the city lacks adequate number of public toilets. Several toilets were demolished. In busy localities such as Vilakkuthoon, the shortage forces traders and visitors to use open spaces. The few existing toilets are poorly maintained owing to inadequate water supply. The authorities concerned should take urgent steps to ensure proper upkeep of sufficient public toilet facilities in these high-footfall areas. T.R. Pratap Chandran, Meenakshi Nagar Villapuram. Stray cattle menace on busy roads Stray cattle frequently cross the Avaniyapuram–Thiruparankundram Road, posing a risk to two-wheeler riders and other motorists. Livestock owners and the authorities concerned should take necessary steps and ensure safer movement of vehicles. Prem Kumar, Avaniyapuram. Have Kudal Nagar as second terminal Passenger traffic at Madurai Railway Junction has increased manifold in recent years, but the station continues to function with only seven platforms. The resulting congestion often leads to delays in the arrival and departure of trains. Even as the station is being redeveloped at significant cost, the platform capacity remains constrained. Kudal Nagar station, located 4 km away and equipped with two long platforms, could be developed as an additional terminal to ease pressure on Madurai Junction. Divisional Railway Manager, Madurai, should examine the feasibility of developing Kudal Nagar as a second terminal at the earliest. G. Chittibabu, Velmurugan Nagar.
