The police personnel in Chittoor and Annamayya districts on Sunday observed the 175th death anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, by offering floral tributes and recalling his sacrifices in India’s early resistance against the British rule. In Chittoor district, Additional Superintendent of Police (Armed Reserve) M. Devadas offered floral tributes to the portrait of Narasimha Reddy at the District Armed Reserve Office. Speaking on the occasion, the Additional SP described Narasimha Reddy as the first revolutionary from Rayalaseema to challenge British authority. He highlighted that his sacrifice, courage, and commitment to freedom continue to inspire generations and urged police personnel to perform their duties in the true spirit of service and integrity upheld by freedom fighters. In Annamayya district, the death anniversary of the legendary freedom fighter was observed at Rayachoti. Additional SP (Administration) M. Venkatadri recalled that Narasimha Reddy revolted against British oppression following the abolition of the Palegar system in 1846, mobilising local support despite limited resources. He stated that the freedom fighter’s martyrdom in 1847 marked a defining chapter in the region’s Independence movement.
