The Special Investigation Team of the police, probing the alleged liquor scam, arrested former Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited Managing Director Donthireddy Vasudeva Reddy on Saturday.

The Indian Railway Traffic Service officer has been named accused No. 2 in the multi crore scam. The police produced Vasudeva Reddy before the Anti Corruption Bureau Special Court, which remanded him to judicial custody till February 27 and sent him to Guntur Jail.

Investigation officials have identified 51 accused in the case, of whom 15 have been arrested so far. The police alleged that several irregularities took place in the sale and supply of liquor between 2019 and 2024 during the YSRCP government.

The SIT alleged that Mr. Vasudeva Reddy, who also served as Commissioner of Distilleries and Beverages in the previous government, colluded with other accused and resorted to cheating, misuse of official powers and other irregularities.
