Nithin High drama prevailed near the Kochi metro’s JLN stadium station here on Saturday (February 21, 2026) as intense efforts were on to save a cat trapped atop a metro pillar. Fire and Rescue Services personnel, assisted by animal rescue volunteers, were involved in the rescue operation launched following an alert from metro officials. Initial attempts to save the cat using a crane had failed. The cat was seen moving between the pillars, complicating the rescue effort, rescue personnel said. It has been decided to resume the operation at midnight after service hours as power supply on the line could be switched off then.
