Anantapur police arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in house burglaries and recovered ₹25 lakh worth stolen gold and silver ornaments from them. Addressing the media here on Saturday, Anantapur Urban DSP V. Srinivasa Rao said the accused, Basha alias Kuruba Ramanjaneyulu of Anantapur town, was earlier involved in several house burglaries and other crimes. He was arrested in a POCSO case and was remanded to judicial custody in Kadapa prison, where he came in contact with the other accused, V. Prasad of Kadapa. After coming out of prison, the duo started committing offences targeting locked houses in secluded places. The accused broke almirah locks using iron rods and cutters, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said. The duo reportedly committed offences in Kadapa town, Gooty, Bukkarayasamudram, Anantapur I and III town police stations, and hid the stolen property in Basha’s house. They were allegedly travelling on stolen motorcycles when they were caught during vehicle check at Nadimivanka. After questioning, the stolen property was recovered.
