People in and around Hyderabad saw thick fog suspended in the air during early hours of Saturday (January 3, 2026), decreasing visibility. People posted videos and photos of the weather situation which is unusual to the city. The dense fog in the city in the early hours was seen on the first day of 2026 and it was witnessed on the third consecutive day too. Earlier, Head of India Meteorological Centre Hyderabad, K. Naga Ratna, said that moisture accumulation at lower levels of the atmosphere led to formation of fog at surface level. People have expressed apprehension over driving two-four-wheelers or other vehicles amidst the fog as the visibility was low. When fog decreased visibility in November last year, Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police issued advisories to caution people driving vehicles that reduced visibility could trigger collisions if motorists do not slow down and stay alert. They gave a list of do’s and don’ts for driving in foggy conditions, including avoiding high-beam lights and usage of low-beam head lights, using fog lights upon entering fog-affected zones.
