The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday (February 21, 2026) strongly criticised the alleged attack on the camp office of party leader and MLA Katipalli Venkata Ramana Reddy in Kamareddy, allegedly carried out by Congress workers.

The BJP Telangana unit president, N. Ramchander Rao, in a statement described the incident as an “assault on democratic values” and accused the Congress of resorting to violence to “conceal its political setbacks.”

“Indulging in such violent acts to cover up the political failures of Congress leaders is extremely deplorable,” he said. He further asserted that it is the responsibility of the government to ensure law and order in the region and warned that the BJP would not tolerate any disruption to public peace in Kamareddy.

Terming political violence unacceptable, the party leadership said they would visit the site of the incident to express solidarity with local cadre and to assess the situation firsthand.

BJP Telangana chief also slams police over detention of BJYM leaders

Meanwhile, Mr. Rao, in another statement, slammed the police for ‘highhanded behaviour’ and the arrest of BJYM State president Ganesh Kunde and several other party leaders. The BJYM had planned a protest against Youth Congress workers, prompting the police action.

He said that the protest was intended to condemn the alleged misconduct of Congress workers during the India AI Global Summit in New Delhi.

Mr. Rao demanded the immediate suspension of the police personnel involved. He also sought a formal inquiry into the incident, alleging that officers used “unacceptable and vulgar language” against the youth.

“Using third degree methods inside an escort vehicle is a criminal act. Strict legal action must be taken against those responsible,” he said. The BJP leadership condemned the entire episode, alleging that such actions were being carried out “solely to please Rahul Gandhi.”
