The Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP released a “report card” on the DMK government’s five-year rule based on the poll promises made by the ruling party in the run-up to the 2021 Assembly elections and alleged that it had fulfilled only 31.6% of its assurances. BJP State vice-president R.N. Jayaprakash said the DMK had made 505 promises in its 2021 election manifesto. Of these, only 160 had been fulfilled. The remaining 345 promises were yet to be implemented. In contrast to this, the DMK was falsely claiming that it had fulfilled 99% of poll promises, he alleged. He also said the government had failed on several fronts, which included governance and administration, infrastructure development, healthcare, environment protection, water management, transport, fishermen’s welfare, agriculture, and animal husbandry. He also challenged members of the ruling party for a public debate on the number of poll promises fulfilled in the last five years.
