Telangana is likely to experience light rainfall in some districts between February 22 to 24, while both day and night temperatures are expected to rise across the State, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Dharma Raju, Scientist at the IMD Centre Hyderabad, said the expected rainfall is linked to a weather system currently developing over the southern Bay of Bengal, which has been influencing weather conditions over parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala for the past two days.

“As the system progresses, we are anticipating light rainfall in some coastal and interior regions that share boundaries with neighbouring States. In Telangana, the rainfall activity, if any, will be limited and light,” he said.

According to IMD, districts along the Telangana-Andhra Pradesh border, including Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam are more likely to receive light rain, generally in the range of 1 mm to 2.5 mm. No widespread or heavy rainfall is expected. Hyderabad city is also likely to see cloudy skies on February 24 and 25, accompanied by light winds. “The city may experience light rain, but significant rainfall is unlikely,” Mr. Raju said.

On the temperature front, both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to increase in the coming days, with nights becoming slightly warmer compared to recent conditions, Mr Raju added.
