The Land Fraud Investigation Wing of the Central Crime Branch, Avadi City Police, has arrested two persons who indulged in land fraud by forging documents and deploying an impersonator. According to the police, K.A. Sivaraj, 68, residing at Govindasamy Nagar 4th Street, Madipakkam, had retired from service at TNSC Bank. He owns a house site measuring 1,800 sq.ft, including a hut, in Vadaperumbakkam village, Madhavaram taluk. He had purchased the property on 29 January, 1988, through a registered sale deed from G. Srinivasan and N. Chandran and had obtained the patta in his name. When he recently attempted to sell the property to meet his daughter’s marriage expenses, he discovered that an impersonator bearing the same name as him — K.A. Sivaraj residing in Vyasarapadi — had created a fake Aadhaar card with the intention of grabbing the property. The impersonator executed a general power of attorney in favour of R. Vinodkumar on October 19, 2020. Later, the same person cancelled the power document on June 17, 2021 and, on the same date, fraudulently sold the property to S. Krishnan through a registered sale deed. Krishnan subsequently obtained a patta in his name using the forged documents and later sold the property to T.V. Amarnath on August 11, 2021. Based on the complaint alleging conspiracy, impersonation, and fabrication of forged government records to usurp the property, the Avadi Central Crime Branch, Land Dispute Wing–III registered a case. In connection with the case, the police arrested the impersonator Thavamani, 68, of Kodungaiyur and Sureshkumar, 53, of Madhavaram.
