The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kurnool (IIITDM-Kurnool) celebrated its Foundation Day. The celebration featured a series of academic and technical events.

As part of the celebrations, a poster presentation competition was conducted, in which 39 students participated. The event provided a vibrant platform for students to showcase innovative ideas, research outcomes and creative solutions across various domains. An AI Quiz Competition was also conducted for the students.

Addressing the gathering of students and faculty, B.H.V.S. Narayana Murthy, vice-chancellor of the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune, and Former Director-General (Missile and Strategic Systems), Defence Research and Development Organisation congratulated the IIITDM-Kurnool for establishing well-equipped laboratory infrastructure within a short span of time and expressed confidence that the Institute would soon emerge as one of the premier institutions in the country.

Highlighting the rapid progress in India’s defence sector, Mr. Narayana Murthy said the increased defence budget is paving the way for India to become a global leader in defence equipment manufacturing, thereby reducing dependency on imports. He emphasised that India is steadily transitioning toward becoming a technologically advanced product-manufacturing nation rather than primarily a service-oriented economy.

IIITDM director B.S. Murthy encouraged students and employees to integrate Artificial Intelligence across various domains to support the nation in realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047.
