A crude bomb reportedly kept concealed at a house construction site exploded at Central Poyiloor on Friday morning, injuring a tipper lorry driver engaged in earth removal work. The explosion occurred when soil was being cleared using an earthmover for the reconstruction of a house. The police said unidentified persons were suspected to have stored the improvised explosive device at the site. The explosion caused splinters hit the driver, who had arrived to collect the excavated soil. The driver, identified as Sumith Lal, was admitted to the Thalassery cooperative hospital. His condition is reported to be stable.
