Tirunelveli Mayor escapes unhurt in road accident

Mayor G. Ramakrishnan escaped unhurt as a bus hit his official car on Friday. When Mr. Ramakrishnan was coming to the Tirunelveli Corporation office from his residence here in his official car, a private bus proceeding from Pettai to Tirunelveli Junction hit the car from behind even as the car was crossing Tirunelveli Town Arch.

Though none in the car sustained any injury, the Mayor’s vehicle suffered damage in the rear portion.

The police rushed to the spot and cleared the traffic jam caused by the accident.

Mr. Ramakrishnan, who did not file any complaint with the police, said the bus inadvertently hit his vehicle even though there was no traffic snarl near Tirunelveli Town Arch.

“Only the accident caused traffic jam… As the police requested us to take the vehicle to avert traffic congestion, we left the spot immediately,” Mr. Ramakrishnan said.
