After the management of a 72-year-old middle school in Telungupalayam expressed its inability to continue operations, the Coimbatore Corporation took over the institution and constructed a new academic block at a cost of ₹1.15 crore through corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding. The school, earlier functioning as Sri Vaidheeswara Vidyalaya Middle School, is located on a 1.95-acre campus in Ward 76 of the South Zone. It had a 7,500 sq. ft. building and a 0.95-acre playground, with 266 students enrolled. The old structure had deteriorated over time, prompting the handover to the Corporation. The institution had been functioning as a government-aided middle school prior to the takeover. After obtaining required government approvals and completing the transfer of land, the Corporation commenced construction of the new building on September 16, 2024. Built at an estimated cost of ₹1.15 crore under CSR funding, the structure has a built-up area of about 6,818 sq. ft., comprising 10 classrooms and office rooms across the ground and first floors. The building was inaugurated by Pollachi MP K. Eswarasamy in the presence of District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, Mayor K. Ranganayaki and Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran on Thursday In addition to the academic block, the Corporation has constructed toilet facilities for students at a cost of ₹32 lakh under its general funds and a dining hall at a cost of ₹10 lakh within the campus. The school now functions as the Telungupalayam Corporation Middle School, with the civic body overseeing its administration.
