Traffic diversion will be in force on February 21 and 22 in view of the kumbabishekam (consecration ceremony) at the Arulmigu Velayuthaswamy (Thindal Murugan) Temple, scheduled to be held on Sunday morning. In a release, the district police said a large number of devotees are expected to participate in the ceremony. Elaborate security and traffic arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the event and to prevent congestion on the Erode–Perundurai State Highway, where the temple is located. As part of the arrangements, all vehicles except those proceeding to the temple will be diverted. All light and heavy vehicles entering Erode town via Perundurai will be diverted through Naal Road, Nasiyanur and Villarasampatti Road. Vehicles bound for Karur, Namakkal and Tiruchi districts via Perundurai have been advised to take the Outer Ring Road. Vehicles coming from Erode towards Tiruppur and Coimbatore will be diverted via Veerappampalayam Pirivu, Villarasampatti Road and Nasiyanur to reach the Coimbatore National Highway. The traffic changes will come into effect from 10 p.m. on February 21 and remain in force until the completion of the ceremony and dispersal of devotees on February 22. Parking facilities have been arranged at the BVB Matriculation School campus, Subramani Garden and Manickam Garden. Vehicles arriving from the Perundurai and Villarasampatti side can be parked at Arul Nagar, behind the Gandhi fruit stall, the Vellalar College parking area, near Yazhi Apartment, the Geethanjali School ground, the weighbridge area and the United Sports Academy premises. The police have urged motorists and devotees to cooperate and adhere to the diversion to ensure smooth traffic flow.
