A rowdy who had allegedly attacked policemen while trying to resist arrest in 2021 was convicted by the court for attempt to murder and sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹25,000. The convict, Mohammed Saleem, was wanted in multiple cases. Acting on a tip-off that he was travelling in a car on Outer Ring Road near Hennur, a team of policemen from the Govindapura Police Station intercepted him and attempted to arrest him. Saleem allegedly attacked the police personnel with a knife, injuring them and fled from the scene. A case was registered and he was later tracked down and arrested. He was booked for attempt to murder and illegal possession of arms. A charge-sheet was filed and the trial was completed recently and the court convicted the accused on both charges.
