The Overseas Development and Employment Promotion Consultants (ODEPC) will host an expo in Thiruvananthapuram as part of its study abroad programme. Minister of General Education, Labour and Skills V. Sivankutty will inaugurate the exhibition to be held at Dimora Hotel, Thampanoor, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 21. At a time when there is an increase in the number of students going abroad for higher studies, the ODEPEC aims at providing an opportunity for students to understand the higher education in various countries and the current situation in the sector. Representatives from more than 30 universities from countries such as the U.S., the U.K., Ireland, Australia, UAE, Malaysia, Singapore and Italy are participating in this expo. The exhibition will also provide details of the guidelines and procedures to be followed for admission to foreign universities, an opportunity for each student to meet representatives of various universities face-to-face, information on fee concessions, spot admission, scholarships offered by universities and so on. In addition, officials of various departments and bank representatives will be present at this exhibition to provide students with detailed information about the schemes of various government departments for higher studies and proper guidelines in financial matters. The ODEPC also provides services such as free IELTS training to students selected for higher studies, subject to conditions. Registration is free.
