Congress party MP from Karur S. Jothimani on Friday took to social media to flag an issue about non-cooperation by party functionaries in the appointment of Booth-Level Agents (BLA) recommended by her in Karur district.

In a social media post, the MP alleged that “no political party would ever think of obstructing its own parliamentary members from submitting the list of polling booth agents to the Election Commission during election time” and that such incidents are routinely happening in the Congress.

“Day after day, the Tamil Nadu Congress is in the news for all the wrong reasons, unrelated to people’s issues. Tamil Nadu is facing an unprecedented peril from communalist, separatist, and violent forces. In this context, all political parties bear the responsibility to handle the impending election with the utmost care. However, it is impossible to avoid the question of whether the Congress truly grasps the magnitude of this responsibility,” she said.

Ms. Jothimani said: “The unchecked internal conflicts persisting in the Tamil Nadu Congress are causing disillusionment. Without steadfastly advancing principled politics, without speaking about people’s issues, and merely engaging in petty factional squabbles, the Tamil Nadu Congress is gradually heading down the path of destruction for the selfish gains of a few.”

TNCC chief shocked

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K. Selvaperunthagai said that he was shocked to know that she had posted about the issue on social media although she had been talking to him and AICC incharge of Tamil Nadu Girish Chodankar.

“I am working all day. We have appointed village committees, conducted Vote Chori campaigns. I am shocked and I still don’t know why she posted such generalised allegations in public. She could have communicated the same to me or to Girish Chodankar ji. I will speak to her,” he said.
