The Indian Army on Thursday (February 19, 2026) foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Sunderbani area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.

“Based on Intelligence inputs and sustained surveillance, suspicious movement of terrorists was detected in the general area of Nathua Tibba, Sunderbani along the LoC during the early hours on February 19, 2026. Alert troops of the White Knight Corps responded with swift and calibrated fire, successfully foiling the infiltration attempt,” a Jammu-based Army spokesperson said.

The Army said soldiers were “suitably repositioned and reoriented” to ensure comprehensive domination of the area through integrated ground and aerial surveillance. “A high state of operational alert continues to be maintained across the sector,” the Army said.

Arrest in Poonch

Earlier in the day, a local resident in Poonch district was arrested and arms were recovered from his possession.

“Based on specific and credible intelligence inputs, a joint operation of the J&K Police and CIF Romeo under the aegis of the White Knight Corps resulted in the swift arrest of an individual, Sachin alias Pamma, a resident of Nowshera. The operation reflects seamless coordination and actionable intelligence leading to a decisive outcome,” the Army said.

During the operation, according to the Army, security forces recovered one TISAS Zigana 9mm (Turkey-made) pistol and one TT-30 (Norinco, China-made) pistol, two extended 50-round Zigana magazines, two pistol magazines and 15 9mm live rounds.

“Preliminary investigation indicates the individual was in direct contact with Pakistan-based terrorists/smugglers and was operating a trans-border, inter-State weapons racket,” the Army said.

The Army said the arrest has “effectively busted and thwarted the nefarious designs aimed at destabilising the peaceful atmosphere in J&K”.
