Differently-abled beneficiaries receive mobiles, scooters in Namakkal

Rajya Sabha member K.R.N. Rajeshkumar distributed mobile phones and petrol scooters to differently-abled beneficiaries in Namakkal on Thursday (February 19, 2026).

In a function held at Namakkal Collectorate premises, on behalf of the Department for Welfare of Differently-Abled Persons, Mr. Rajeshkumar distributed welfare assistance worth ₹1.17 crore to 201 beneficiaries, including a specialised battery-operated wheelchair to a person worth ₹1.05 lakh, retrofitted petrol scooters to 100 beneficiaries worth ₹1.01 crore and smartphones for 100 beneficiaries worth ₹14.49 lakh.

Speaking at the function, Mr. Rajeshkumar said that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has implemented various welfare schemes for all sections of the people. He added that through the Department, identity cards, artificial limbs, free bus passes, monthly maintenance assistance, cooperative bank loans, retrofitted petrol scooters, educational assistance, smartphones, and sewing machines are provided. To protect the welfare of the differently-abled and persons living in rural areas who come to urban areas for work and visit hospitals during sickness, these petrol scooters are facilitated, he said.

In the function, District Revenue Officer (DRO) Saravanan, Namakkal Mayor D. Kalanidhi, Deputy Mayor S. Bhupathi, and officials from departments concerned also participated.
