Woman killed as boat capsizes in Ariankuppam river

A 33-year-old woman died and her two daughters sustained injuries after a boat carrying seven tourists capsized near the Ariankuppam river mouth near here on Thursday. The police identified the deceased as Sonia, a native of Bengaluru. Her two daughters have been admitted to the government hospital.

After the boat capsized, though the tourists were rescued by other boatmen, the woman could not be saved. The owner of the boat, Sathish Kumar, has been arrested for providing boat service to tourists without obtaining permission.
