Chikkamagaluru Police, on Wednesday, arrested three people on the charges of attempting to forcibly enter a house at Vijayapura in Chikkamagaluru, which was recently in the news after unknown people threw stones at the house. The police arrested Bharath, 23, of Gowri Kaluve, Dileep, 27, of Ramanahalli and Harish, based on a complaint filed by H.V. Vishwanath, a resident of Vijayapura in Chikkamagaluru city. Related case Vishwanath, in his complaint, stated that when his wife, H.G. Sudha, and daughter were at their residence, unknown individuals tried to enter the house, kept watch on the house, and also had an argument with the family members. After reviewing the CCTV footage from the locality, the police took three individuals into custody. Earlier, on Monday, Sudha, who works for the Department of Women and Child Development, alleged that unknown individuals threw stones at her house. The neighbours caught two people and handed them over to the police. Later, the police registered a case based on the allegation of attempting to commit robbery and atrocities under the SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and took six people, including four minors, into custody. Five cases This development took on a communal colour, resulting in tension in the city. The family members of the minors who were arrested filed a complaint alleging that their children had been attacked. Supporters of both groups gathered in front of the police station the same day, and the police filed two separate cases alleging nuisance by them. Jitendra Kumar Dayama, Chikkamagaluru SP, speaking to the media on Thursday, stated that a total of five cases had been registered since Monday.
