The project will be implemented at a cost ₹3 crore. P.T.A. Raheem, MLA, said the Mangathaya Kesavan Namboothiri memorial hi-tech sports complex would come up in Ward 7 (Perumanpura East) of Perumanna grama panchayat. “The project will be implemented on 15 cents, including 10 cents donated free of cost by the family of Mangathaya Kesavan Namboothiri and five cents purchased by the grama panchayat,” Mr. Raheem said in a statement. According to him, the proposed complex will feature modern facilities, including an indoor stadium, a swimming pool, and a convention centre. It will cater for both training and community activities. Funds for the project had been allocated in the State Budget for 2025–26, based on the detailed project report submitted by the Perumanna grama panchayat, the MLA added. Once completed, the complex is expected to provide improved sports infrastructure in the area, create greater opportunities for young athletes to pursue training at the local level, and also serve as a venue for public programmes.
