Narsingi police arrest two for kidnap and sexual assault of 16-year-old; a minor absconding

Two individuals, including a minor, have been arrested by Narsingi police in connection with the kidnap and sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl, while another minor accused remains at large.

The case came to light on Tuesday (February 17, 2026) following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother. She stated that her daughter, who resided with her grandmother for her studies, had left for school at about 8.30 a.m. on February 16 but did not return home. After unsuccessful attempts to trace her, the family approached the police and an FIR was registered.

The police teams launched a search operation to locate the missing girl and traced her on the morning of February 18 at a double-bedroom housing complex , from where she was rescued.

According to the police, enquiries revealed that on February 7, the minor had visited Charminar area for shopping, where she became acquainted with a 16-year-old boy from Talab Katta. The two subsequently remained in contact over telephone. On February 16, she went to Madina to meet him without informing her family members, and they spent time in and around the Old City.

The police said that later that night, the boy, along with two friends identified as Imran and another minor, all residents of Talab Katta, took her in an autorickshaw where they threatened her with a knife, forced her to consume alcohol and sexually assaulted her.

On Wednesday (February 18, 2026), the police apprehended Imran and the minor boy who lured the victim. After collecting evidence, the accused were produced before the competent court. The third minor accused involved in the offence currently remains at large and efforts are continuing to trace him.

Police records revealed that Imran was involved in eight previous cases, including robbery, theft and bodily offences registered at various police stations. A suspect sheet was also maintained against him at Rein Bazar Police Station.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
