Madhapur police of Cyberabad Commissionerate registered a case against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy for alleged encroachment of nearly five acres of Durgam Cheruvu in Madhapur. The case was registered following a complaint from the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA). Police said the case has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. According to the complaint, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority had issued a Full Tank Level primary notification for Durgam Cheruvu in 2014, clearly demarcating the lake’s boundaries. Despite this, Mr. Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, along with another person identified as Venkat Reddy, encroached upon the lake by filling it with soil and stones. The encroached area was allegedly being used as a commercial parking facility for private transport vehicles. HYDRAA recently removed illegal structures spread across nearly five acres from the lake’s FTL. Further investigation is underway.
