The Tourism Department has constituted a tourism facilitation cell to attract and promote fresh investments in the tourism section, especially those arising from the recently held Tamil Nadu Global Tourism Summit 2026 where 127 MoUs were signed to bring investments of Rs. 22,795 crore. An official press release here said that the cell would have four members including officials from the Tourism Department and Guidance Tamil Nadu (GTN). The member from GTN will handle liaison for single window clearances. According to Tourism Minster R. Rajendran, the cell will also provide handholding support to private investors and PPP partners; and identify new tourism markets, promotion strategies and investment opportunities. MoUs in the areas like adventure tourism, sports and recreation, medical tourism, ropeway, camper vans, hill resort, ariel tourism (helicopter), eco resort, coastal tourism, wellness and eco tourism were signed.
