Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy admitted that the Congress had suffered defeats in two municipalities within his parliamentary constituency — Cheriyal and Tirumalagiri municipalities due to covert elements within the party.

At a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, he said the defeat exhibited a clear gap between local leaders and party cadres. A detailed post-mortem of the defeats, along with TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan would be conducted.

Referring specifically to the Tirumalagiri loss, the MP said that anyone found responsible for harming the party’s prospects must face action. “Only when corrective steps are taken will the party improve and move forward,” he asserted.

Criticising BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, the MP said his challenges were limited to social media platforms like Twitter and had no impact on the ground. “Despite aggressive social media campaigns, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi failed to convince the people,” he said, adding that the party drew a blank in corporation elections.
