Nursing and other staff of the district hospital went on a snap strike in Belagavi on Wednesday, alleging that a caretaker of one of the patients had assaulted a staff nurse on February 17 night. They struck work for a few hours and shouted slogans. They demanded swift action by the police against the accused and steps to prevent such attacks in future. Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences director Ashok Kumar Shetty and others visited the protestors and assured them of action. They resumed work later.
