Members of the Tamil Nadu Engineers Federation staged a demonstration in the city on Wednesday, demanding the implementation of Seventh Pay Commission benefits that have been pending since 2017. The Federation’s secretary M. Dhanasekaran said engineers continue to struggle with low salaries as a court order directing the implementation of the revised pay scale announced in 2010 was not enforced. About 20,000 engineers in 23 government departments and government boards have been affected due to the long-pending issue. The charter of demands also include time-bound promotions and pension benefits.
