Junior artiste held with 52 litres of liquor from Kochi

The Excise arrested a junior film artiste with 52 litres of liquor allegedly in his possession. The arrested is Shefeeq Ummer, a native of Thiroorangadi in Malappuram.

He was arrested during a check conducted in the city in the early hours of Wednesday. The Excise seized 15 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor and 58 bottles (37.7 litres) of beer from the accused.

According to the Excise, Ummer used to sell liquor illegally after midnight by finding customers through a network of youth and taxi drivers he had befriended. A car he allegedly used to traffic liquor was also seized by the Excise.

He was noted for his role in the film Action Hero Biju. Excise sources said a probe was on to find out how the accused managed to source large volumes of alcohol.
