The annual Brahmotsavams coinciding with ‘Sri Rama Navami’ will begin at Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple in Vontimitta from March 27 to April 5, with the preparatory ritual ‘Ankurarpanam’ on March 26.

The most important event of the festivities — ‘Sita Rama Kalyanam’ — will be conducted by the State government will be held on April 1. It will be attended by VIPs and common devotees from across the State.

Meanwhile, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Joint Executive Officer V. Veerabrahmam reviewed the progress of the works at the temple and held a detailed meeting with officials of all departments on Wednesday.

He inspected the temporary kitchen, raw material storage sheds set up in front of the temple and asked the officials to finish the works before the deadline.

‘Kalyana Vedika’, the venue developed opposite the temple to conduct the celestial wedding ‘Kalyanotsavam’ of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita, is being spruced up for the occasion. Seventeen counters have been set up for distributing ‘Talambralu’ and ‘Annaprasadam’ to the devotees to ensure free flow of public.

As the event falls during peak summer, Mr. Veerabrahmam directed the officials to keep drinking water and buttermilk sachets ready for distribution to the public. He also reviewed the development of roads, especially the ‘mada’ streets.

Executive Engineer Narasimha Murthy, Chief PRO T. Ravi, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kusuma Kumari, Deputy Executive Officer T. Prasanthi, Additional Health Officer Dr. Sunil and Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishat (HDPP) Special Officer Sriram Raghunath took part in the review meeting.
