The programme to unveil the statue of Maharshi Valmiki in Ballari, scheduled to be held on Saturday, has been temporarily postponed in view of the prevailing law and order situation following the death of Congress worker Rajasekhar Reddy. A statement issued by the office of Nara Bharath Reddy, MLA for Ballari, on Friday said conducting the statue unveiling amid heightened tension in the city could lead to untoward incidents. Sources said the district administration had submitted a report to the government warning of possible law and order complications.
