Newly-selected youth officers begin intensive field training in Ramanathapuram district

In a bid to bolster grassroots nation-building, a new cohort of District Youth Officers (DYOs) commenced intensive field training in Ramanathapuram district.

Operating under the Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) initiative of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, officers would be equipped to lead India’s demographic dividend toward national progress, said officials.

They added that ‘My Bharat’ centres functioning across every district in India, serve as a vital bridge between the government and the youth.

“At the block level, two National Youth Volunteers (NYVs) are appointed for a two-year tenure. Their primary mission is to establish youth and women’s clubs in every village, mobilising local communities to participate actively in the country’s development. These volunteers operate under the direct supervision of the District Youth Officer,” they noted.

The current training programme featured a diverse group of officers selected through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), representing various States across the country – Aditya Chandram (Tamil Nadu), Sunita (Rajasthan), Allan (Kerala), Surabhi Yadav (Uttar Pradesh), Hari Krishna Varma (Kerala) and Pratishtha (Delhi).

Starting from February 15, the officers have been immersed in rural field exercises designed to identify the unique talents of individuals aged 18 to 29 and channel their energy into the path of national progress.

Under the guidance of Ramanathapuram District Youth Officer Samyak Meshram, the trainees have been undergoing a rigorous curriculum that blends administrative management with community outreach.

Key areas of their training include: Preparing annual action plans and setting measurable targets for district-wide youth engagement; learning the nuances of resource mobilisation, maintaining accounts, and preparing detailed income-and-expenditure reports; participating in Youth Club festivals, attending Gram Sabha meetings, and coordinating with various government departments; chalking out strategies to involve members of women’s clubs directly in village development projects.
