A man was arrested by the Special Crime Team of the Central Crime Station (CCS), Hyderabad, along with Hussaini Alam police, for illegal possession of a country-made pistol. The accused was identified as Amjad Khan (29), who runs a business at Charminar. According to the police, Amjad is a native of Hyderabad who returned after working in Saudi Arabia and later took up business at Charminar. About ten months ago, he allegedly purchased a country-made pistol of 0.7 mm calibre for ₹80,000 from a person identified as Avinash, also known as Kallu, a resident of Madhya Pradesh. The purchase was done through a mediator named Amith, a resident of BHEL in Hyderabad and a native of Madhya Pradesh. Police said the accused kept the weapon in his possession and used it to threaten the public. During the arrest, police recovered a country made pistol of 0.7 mm calibre and a mobile phone from the accused. While Amjad Khan was apprehended, the other two accused, Avinash and Amith, are absconding. Police have advised individuals in illegal possession of arms and weapons to surrender them at the nearest police station, warning that Hyderabad City Police are maintaining strict surveillance over anti-social elements and will act swiftly against violators.
