A driver of KSRTC was found murdered at Rajanahalli in Alur taluk of Hassan district in Karnataka on February 17 evening.

R.D. Veerappa, 58, a driver of KSRTC, was allegedly attacked by unknown persons while he was on his way to his farmland after attending a court hearing related to a land dispute in Alur town, on February 17. The accused burnt his body.

Veerappa’s son, Vivek R.V., filed a complaint at Alur Police Station late in the night. He has named a few persons in the complaint and held them responsible for the murder. The police suspect that Veerappa had been murdered by his relatives over a property dispute.

Veerappa was involved in protests seeking benefits for KSRTC employees. He worked as president of Hassan district KSRTC Employees’ Federation and also as a member of the district committee of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU).

Dharmesh, district president of CITU, expressed shock over the murder of Veerappa. He has urged the district police to arrest the accused immediately.
