Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) has received a grant of ₹8.55 crore for a research project under Prime Minister’s Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission Scheme (PM-ABHIM) from the ICMR. According to Medical Superintendent Dr. Ram, the funds will meet the first year’s needs of the research project, i.e., 1 January, 2026 to December 31, 2026, sanctioned to the department of microbiology. SVIMS director and vice-chancellor R.V. Kumar said the funds allocated through this scheme will be used to further strengthen the IRDL lab for infectious disease diagnosis and research.
