IT and Industries Minister D.Sridhar Babu on Tuesday said Telangana government wants to transform Hyderabad into a global hub for innovation-led Life Sciences growth, a ‘laboratory of the future’.

Speaking at BioAsia, which opened here on Tuesday, the Minister mentioned this highlighting the measures the State government has initiated to propel the growth of the Life Sciences industry, including Telangana Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy (2026-2030) unveiled last month. The State aims to attract $25 billion in investments by 2030 and generate five lakh new jobs.

The policy has been formulated to position the State among the top three Life Sciences clusters globally by the end of this decade. Telangana is preparing to evolve from a manufacturing base to a global centre for innovation, research and advanced drug discovery.

He said the State is strengthening its research, innovation and high-end manufacturing ecosystem through structured interventions. Efforts are under way to build a future-ready workforce through institutions such as the Telangana School of Life Sciences and Young India Skills University, with specialised training in emerging domains including mRNA technology, gene editing and AI-driven drug discovery.

Inviting global firms and investors to partner with Telangana, Mr. Sridhar Babu said opportunities exist across AI-based drug discovery, automation in biologics manufacturing, data-driven precision medicine, computational biology and Bio-Manufacturing 4.0. “Telangana is ready to collaborate with global industry leaders to shape the next phase of Life Sciences innovation,” he said.

The State has also introduced a dedicated policy to develop Hyderabad as a global medical tourism hub, he said.

In an interaction with media, the Minister said the State government is expanding Genome Valley. The fourth phase expansion is spread over about 100 acres.

On setting up pharma clusters, he said there are plans to have such facilities, each on at least 2,000 acres, in about 3-4 locations. Land acquisition for the same are under way. To queries on the proposed Green Pharma City, he said basic road infrastructure development work has begun on the project in which 17 anchor investors have committed to invest ₹20,000 crore on their facilities.
