An Inspector of Police in Cuddalore district has been dismissed from service on charges of dereliction of duty.

An order dismissing Inspector Jaishankar, who was serving in Sethiyathoppu police station, was issued by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Villupuram Range, A. Arularasu after a detailed departmental inquiry, said police sources.

Jaishankar served in Cuddalore district and before that in Kanjanur police station in Villupuram district in 2022 as Inspector. The charge against Jaishankar during his tenure as an Inspector in Kanjanur police station was that he had failed to conduct proper investigation in a clash between two groups at Kedar in which one person ended his life. Subsequently, he was placed under suspension and posted to Sethiyathoppu in Cuddalore district.

Police sources said that there were several other complaints against him. A departmental inquiry was conducted into the charges following which an order dismissing Jaishankar from service was issued.
